Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures are dentures that are fitted immediately after having teeth extracted. This requires planning in advance. Generally, impressions are taken prior to the teeth being removed, and a shade, size, and tooth shape are selected. An immediate denture may either be a full denture or a partial plate. The denture is then manufactured and you will take it with you to your extraction appointment, where it will be placed in your mouth immediately following your extractions.
Keep in mind that a significant amount of shrinkage (resorption) usually occurs in the jawbones after tooth loss, that can leave the resulting ridge of gum tissue markedly reduced from its original size and shape. Most of this deficit develops in the first three to four months after extraction, so after that time your immediate denture should be relined to compensate for the change.
Mouthguards
Mouthguards are very important for children and adults alike who participate in sports where protecting the teeth is essential.
Only a custom made, moulded mouthguard will provide the best protection from impact. These custom made mouthguards fit perfectly over each individual tooth, do not move in the mouth and allow you to breathe and speak easily.
Mouthguards last between a season and 2-3 years, depending on the age of the player. Children up to the age of 15 usually require new mouthguards every year. Older children and adults may not grow, but the mouthguard will wear down and should be checked annually. Depending on usage, they may need to be changed.
Mouthguards are made in different thicknesses to suit everyone and every sport. We offer single, double and triple layer laminated mouthguards in the colour of your choice.
Complete Dentures &
Partial Dentures
A full denture replaces all the natural teeth. These dentures rest on the gums of either your upper or lower jaws, or both. A full set of dentures helps provide support to your facial structure, allowing your lips and cheeks to look fuller, resulting in a younger, healthier appearance.
A partial denture replaces lost or missing teeth and are usually retained by clasps around your existing teeth. Replacing missing teeth will make eating easier and provide you with a more confident smile. These dentures have a plastic or chrome base for added strength.
Implant retained dentures are a popular alternative to conventional dentures. An implant retained denture replaces one or more single teeth and is held in place by dental implants secured within the jaw.
Implant retained dentures provide improved ability to eat and enjoy foods like steak, raw fruits and vegetables. They also give you increased confidence, as the dentures are stable and secure.
Relines & Repairs
There are many reasons for denture breakage, which can be due to underlying problems, including age, worn teeth, or poor fit. We will be more than happy to assess your denture when you bring it in to be repaired. Dentures need to be periodically adjusted for a proper fit, to avoid causing discomfort or difficulty chewing. The bones and tissues in your mouth change over time. In fact, once you have a tooth extracted, the bone that once held the tooth in place begins to shrink. Poorly fitting dentures can also contribute to the problem by wearing down the bone and soft tissues in your mouth more quickly. Relining your dentures helps minimise this erosion, as well as compensating for natural oral changes.
At Venus Denture Clinic we can repair an existing broken or cracked denture, or repair teeth that have broken off your existing denture.
We can also add teeth or additional clasps to your existing denture if you are having teeth extracted.
Most repairs are usually done on the same day, and we cater for emergency repairs.
***Remember never to repair dentures yourself, especially with super glue. It is toxic and further damages the denture***
